Leader in Me: I Choose to Be a Good Leader
Habit 1: Be Proactive     Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind     Habit 3: Put First Things First     Habit 4: Think Win-Win

You're in Charge

Being proactive means that you are
responsible for your actions.
Instead of waiting for someone
to tell you what to do, you choose to take initiative and do it without being  told. You choose your own actions, attitudes, and moods. When you do  something wrong, you don't blame others. Even when you're alone, you choose to do the right thing because you know it's the best thing to do.

 Have a Plan

Beginning with the end in mind means that you plan ahead by setting goals and then you work toward achieving them. You choose to do things that have meaning and makes a difference. You choose to be an important member of your classroom by contributing to the goals (mission and vision) of your school. You choose to be an important member of your family by helping around the house and doing your share.

 Work First, Then Play

When you work first and then play, you are choosing to do what is important first. You choose to start and finish what is the most important things before you play or relax. You choose to say no to things that you know you shouldn't do. You choose to set priorities, make a schedule, and follow the plan you have set up for yourself. You choose to be organized and disciplined.

 Everyone Can Win

When you choose to take make a balance of what you want with what others want, you are thinking win-win. You choose to consider other people's wants when deciding what to do. You choose to do things that other people want to do instead of doing what you want to do all the time. If you and the other person have a conflict, you look for a different thing that both can agree to do.

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood        Habit 6: Synergize     Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

 Listen Before You Talk

When you listen before you talk, you are paying more attention to what other people say. You choose to consider their ideas and feelings and see things from their viewpoint. You choose to listen to others without interrupting them. You choose to show respect to others by looking at them in the eye when they are talking to you. You are confident when voicing your own ideas.

 Together is Better

When you value other people's strengths and choose to learn from them, you are thinking "together is better". You choose to get along with others, even those that are different than you. You choose to work together in a group instead of causing problems. You choose to seek out the ideas of others to solve problems because you understand that you don't know everything and that someone else may have a better way for accomplishing the goal. You choose to be humble and not brag or boast.

Balance Feels Best

When you choose to balance work with play, you are helping yourself to feel your best. You choose to take care of your body by eating the right kinds of foods, getting enough exercise, and getting plenty of rest. You choose to spend time with your family and friends. You choose to learn in a lot of ways and in different places, not just at school. You choose to help others in a meaningful way.
